The Phu U Lu Shrine is a must-visit location, along with Don Pho Island in Bung Khong Long. According to legend, this island is believed to be the palace of King Karat. Our journey began at the pier behind the Phu U Lu Shrine, where the boat fare is 100 baht per person. The trip takes a bit longer, almost 30 minutes, since the pier is somewhat distant. For those planning to go, it's recommended to board at Mae Tim Pier, which is just a 5-10 minute ride to Don Pho Island. Upon arrival at the island, we had to wade through the water to reach the ceremonial site (luckily, the water level was not deep on the day we visited). The water came up to our knees, making it manageable to walk in. In the center of the island, there is a statue of Phu U Lu that is revered, and visitors are encouraged to pay their respects to the Bodhi tree nearby. The area is beautifully surrounded by lush greenery, creating a serene and peaceful atmosphere.
