Thai-Denmark Dairy Farm

Mitraphap Road, Mitraphap Subdistrict, Mokaek District.

In 1962, the Thai government and the Danish Farmers' Association graciously offered a dairy farming promotion project to showcase the strong relationship between the two countries. The roots of this relationship trace back to 1960 when His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit visited Denmark. Their keen interest in Denmark's dairy industry marked the beginning of a fruitful collaboration, leading to the establishment of the "Thai-Denmark Dairy Farm." In 1962, the Danish government and the Danish Dairy Farmers' Association initiated a project in Mueang Sakhe, Saraburi, in partnership with the Thai government. They set up a dairy farm before transferring all operations to the Thai government to establish the Dairy Farming Promotion Organization of Thailand (DPO). The Thai-Denmark Museum, located at the Thai-Denmark Dairy Farm, is a compact building that showcases the history leading back to January 16, 1962. On that day, King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit welcomed King Frederick IX and Queen Ingrid of Denmark to inaugurate the first Thai-Denmark dairy farm and training center in Saraburi. Today, this farm continues to produce healthy milk for the Thai population. **Must-visit Attractions:** - Thai-Denmark Zoo: Observe various animals, including camels, ostriches, and deer, peacefully frolicking in vast grassy fields. - Video screening room: Gain insights into the dairy operations before touring the farm. - Take a tractor ride through the expansive fields, or opt for a thrilling ATV ride or horseback ride to enjoy the scenery. January 17th each year is celebrated as National Milk Day, featuring camping services and tent rentals priced between 600 to 1,000 baht. **Not-to-miss Activities:** - Learn simple yogurt-making techniques at a yogurt workshop. - Try your hand at milking cows and feeding calves. - Go mountain biking around the dairy farm to observe the operations up close. - Don't forget to purchase popular souvenirs, especially the adorable cow plush toys that are sure to delight.
