The "Phra Phok Bodhi" Temple, also known as Wat Bang Kung, is a historically significant site and one of the Unseen Thailand destinations. Its unique and striking feature is the temple itself, which is enveloped by four types of trees: the Bodhi tree, the banyan tree, the gnarled tree, and the longan tree. According to the information I've come across, the temple is over 200 years old. Unlike typical Thai temples, this one does not have the traditional gables, roof tiles, or ornamental finials, as the tree roots help secure the structure, keeping it from collapsing. The temple grounds are spacious, furnished with marble benches for visitors to relax, and are shaded by the large trees surrounding the area, creating a serene atmosphere. Inside the Phra Phok Bodhi Temple, you can find the statue of Luang Por Phutthamaneenil, also known as Luang Por Bothe Noi or Luang Por Dam. This statue represents the Mara Vijaya posture from the late Ayutthaya period and is accompanied by beautiful wall paintings that narrate the story of the Buddha’s life. This makes Wat Bang Kung a significant tourist attraction in Samut Songkhram.
