Wat Pho Phueak was built during the late Ayutthaya period, around the year 2302 BE (Buddhist Era). According to historical records, the original ubosot (ordination hall) and old vihara (assembly hall) include a principal Buddha statue made of gilded bronze in the Mara Vichai posture, dating back to the mid-Ayutthaya period, approximately 400 to 500 years old. The new ubosot, completed in 1992 BE, features a principal Buddha statue in the same Mara Vichai posture, which serves as the central figure of the hall.
