The Freshwater Fish Conservation Center in the Northeast is located within the research and development center for freshwater fisheries in Sakon Nakhon, at 1535 Saisawang Road, Thatchengchom Subdistrict, Mueang District, Sakon Nakhon Province. This center showcases various species of fish found in the Northeast, such as the white fish, fragrant fish, tiger fish, spotted snakehead, and more. Construction began in 1992, and the building was completed in 1994, opening its doors to the public in the 1995 fiscal year. The center is designed as a single-story building with a Spanish-style steel roof. It houses a total of 36 fish tanks, including one tank measuring 3.75 meters wide, 1.04 meters long, and 1 meter high; 30 tanks measuring 1.74 meters wide, 0.76 meters long, and 1 meter high; two tanks with a diameter of 0.98 meters and a height of 1.2 meters; and two additional tanks measuring 3.04 meters wide, 0.60 meters long, and 0.62 meters high. Within the research and development center, various activities are conducted, including product quality inspection and certification, aquaculture production, support for royal projects, learning centers focused on fisheries, and a tilapia export initiative.
