Monument of Phraya Si Sunthon Wohan (Noi Archan Yangkun)

Srisothorn New Road, in front of the city, Chachoengsao.

The monument was erected in memory of Phaya Sri Sunthorn Vorakhan (Noi Acharayangkoon), a native of Paet Riw, who is highly regarded as a significant figure in the Thai language. He earned the honorary title of "The Supreme Court of the Thai Language" due to his profound scholarship in Thai linguistics. Throughout his life, he authored numerous Thai language textbooks, including the first official series known as "Baprian Luang," which was used for teaching at Suankularb Royal School. He also contributed a wealth of valuable poetry and literary works. Phaya Sri Sunthorn Vorakhan served closely with the royal family from the reign of King Rama III to that of King Rama V, during which he produced an extensive array of works such as poetic proverbs, royal proclamations, and various Thai language textbooks, including "Mool Bot Ban Prit," "Wahanit Nikorn," "Aksorn Prayok," "Sangkhayok Pithan," and "Wipachon Picharn," which were considered the most comprehensive Thai language textbooks of their time.
