King U-Thong Monument

Pratu Chai Subdistrict, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya District

The King U Thong Monument is situated between Phra Ram Lake and Wat Phra Si Sanphet. This statue of King U Thong is half the size of an average person and is crafted from bronze, coated with a green patina. The statue depicts the king standing with his right hand holding a sword, and he wears a royal attire reminiscent of early Ayutthaya kings. His Majesty the King officially inaugurated the monument on June 24, 1970. Tourists visiting Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya should not miss the opportunity to pay respects at the King U Thong Monument, honoring the first king of Ayutthaya, which is regarded as the spiritual center for the people of Ayutthaya.
