Chainat Muni National Museum was established with the interest of Phra Chainat Muni (Nam Suthatto), a former primate of Chainat province and former abbot of Wat Phra Borommathat Worawihan. which has collected artifacts found antiques in the province of Chainat and nearby areas to keep in many temple museums. Such antiques shall be classified as national treasures. for the benefit of the study of Thai history and archeology in the year 1966, the Fine Arts Department has proceeded to construct a museum building in the area near Wat Phra Borommathat Worawihan named Chainat Muni National Museum as a memorial to Phra Chainat Muni. It has been open to the public since 1969.
