Sri Bunchuang Temple is an ancient temple that was established in 1982. Over time, it fell into disrepair and became an abandoned site. However, after the royal residence transformed into Damrongratsongkhram School, Sri Bunchuang Temple underwent renovations. This revitalization process included relocating the main Buddha image and various items from Chiang Mai Temple, which was previously situated at the royal residence. Eventually, the temple was granted royal permission to establish a boundary on February 1, 1946. Visitors to Sri Bunchuang Temple can admire the beautifully crafted Ubosot (ordination hall), prayer hall, monk’s quarters, dining hall, bell tower, and rest pavilions, all designed in elegant Lanna architectural style. Additionally, located behind the temple, there is a local museum where you can explore and learn about the area's history. For more information, you can contact them at 0 53744254. A travel tip: don’t miss the chance to enjoy the famous Sri Bunchuang noodle shop and Chiang Mai rice porridge restaurant, both conveniently located near the temple. Sri Bunchuang Temple is one of the stops on the "three-wheeler tour" of nine temples in Chiang Rai. To enhance your experience, consider hiring a guide who can share fascinating stories about each of the nine temples.
