Wat Ton Pho Si Maha Bodhi

Khok Pib Subdistrict, Si Mahosot District

Wat Ton Pho Si Maha Pho is located in the Khok Pib sub-district of Prachinburi Province. Inside the temple grounds, you will find the oldest Bodhi tree in Thailand, believed to be a descendant of the sacred Bodhi tree from Bodh Gaya in India— the very site of the Buddha's enlightenment. This magnificent tree is over 2,000 years old and was the first one brought to Thailand for planting. With a trunk circumference of 20 meters and a height of 30 meters, it boasts a diameter of 25 meters, making it truly remarkable. In addition to the ancient tree, the temple features a principal stupa modeled after the one in Bodh Gaya. The exterior walls of the stupa's base are adorned with stunning plaster reliefs depicting celestial beings, adding to the temple's enchanting beauty and spiritual significance.
