Chachoengsao Provincial Crown Property Bureau Building

122/6 Marupong Road, Front City, Chachoengsao City.

The Office of Crown Property in Chachoengsao Province was originally the administrative building of Prachinburi Province. Constructed during the reign of King Rama V, it marked the beginning of provincial governance. The Prachinburi administrative center was relocated from Prachinburi town to Chachoengsao on January 8, 1902. A year later, this building was erected. Over time, it served as the Chachoengsao Provincial Hall and, from 1963 to 1975, housed the Chachoengsao City Municipality office. In 1977, the Fine Arts Department registered the building as a historical site. However, in 1984, the building suffered fire damage and was subsequently abandoned without repairs. It wasn't until a land ownership investigation revealed that the land belonged to the Office of Crown Property that it was returned to the Crown Property Bureau on June 14, 1984. In 1997, the Prachinburi National Museum and Archaeology Office carried out the first restoration of the building. Then, in 2005, the Office of Crown Property undertook further renovations to bring the structure closer to its original appearance as the Prachinburi Provincial Hall, continuing to function as the Office of Crown Property in Chachoengsao to this day. The Office of Crown Property in Chachoengsao is a single-story brick and concrete building, measuring 19 meters in width and 73 meters in length, topped with a hipped roof covered in cement tiles. Its architectural style is a blend of neoclassical design with local craftsmanship and technology. The layout is rectangular, resembling the letter 'E', with a prominent central bay along with two flanking wings. The main offices are arranged along the central axis of the building, with verandas on both sides at the front and back. The building features an impressive central bay that extends outward, supported by a three-section arched structural frame. The central column displays a pediment, while the gabled roof features a Greek-style design with open beam ceilings. The pediment is adorned with a stucco Garuda emblem. The Office of Crown Property has undertaken the restoration and modification of the building according to academic principles, preserving its original structure while adapting and repurposing the space to accommodate modern office needs, all while maintaining the historical architectural significance of the site.
